Aligned with their learning about Indigenous Culture in HASS, Year 3 and 4 students in LA14 and LA13 attempted a challenging STEM task this Reconciliation Week. They worked hard to plan a design, collect suitable materials and collaborate with peers to construct their own shelter able to withstand wind (their teachers’ hairdryers), water (a whole cup full) and the weather elements involved in an overnight sleepover on the school’s balcony.
Students took great pride in their final designs and enjoyed testing their shelters against all elements. They shared their findings by producing Keynote presentations on their iPads; filming, photographing and reflecting in both written and oral forms about their shelter’s performance and the task itself.
Some students expressed that they would be happy to sleep overnight in their shelter creation! Well done to all students involved.
